LABEL REMOVAL

LABEL REMOVAL
Labels that have been attached to cassette shells for long periods of time
can be a pain to remove, especially if you want to parade your tapes, but don't despair,
I think I may have found a good solution! All you need is a cigarette lighter, a rag
and some olive oil.

Carefully heat the label. Warning! Do not hold the lighter in any
one spot for more than half a second as the heat will warp the plastic
inwards and this will cause the tape spool to jam. Run the lighter
up and down the label for no more than ten seconds. This
makes the glue tacky and it will be easier to remove.

Carefully peel the label off. If it tears, remove the remaining label by gently
scraping it off with a plastic knife. Do not use any metal blades as this will
scratch the surface of the shell, damaging it permanently

Get an old cotton towel or cloth, dab it with a small amount of
olive oil. This softens the glue residue and dissolves it safely
protecting any printing that may be on the tape. Any other solvents
may be to strong and can damage the shell surface.

Don't be afraid to scrub firmly with the olive oil and after a
few moments you should see the old glue disappearing completely.
Wipe it dry with the cloth and you are done.

Ta-Dah! This is the tape after cleaning. Nice and clean
and the manufacturers blurb is clearly visible!
